phew!
I been quiet while waiting to hear more about my mom - they admitted her to the hospital because her heart was playing an a-rhythmic-funk/jam/fest. but they aren't going to do an invasive test, after all, and she finally got a room, too... and she'll go home tomorrow... so she's happy and I'm happy. my hospital visit gets to be the relaxed, its-all-over-now sort....
heroine: "I'll take my brothers to get dinner, okay Ma?"
heroine: "do you have any cash, btw?"
heroine: "glad you're feeling better, Ma."
(ps-can you believe they gave her a salt-shaker!!!!!!! to keep with her!!!!! she is so persuasive. but she does work at that hospital.....)

the magical cheese sandwich
once upon a time, a cheese sandwich lived on the planet Mancreion. he had heard many rumors about the planet "Earth," but the idea that beings of higher intelligence would eat a fellow cheese sandwich seemed ludicrous. surely this was just an old rind's tale.
one day, he had the chance to go to Earth though, so he went. he got up early on a fryday, walked to the station, and paid the 17 cucumber fee. after a short wait in line, the sandwich climbed aboard the ship and prepared for suspended animation.....

so that should give me something to do for the next… CRAP!... 31 minutes.
snowboard cross
I wish they would have spent some more time explaining the sport and introducing the athletes - they did that, but it was very quick. it was like they knew they had to show it, cause snowboarding is "in," but couldn't be bothered to give that bit more time to properly introduce us to it.
maybe I should invent a new sport! like cheese-sandwich-making or something! while on a snowboard! rad!

must bring own cheese
PS!!! I have to find a new roommate!!
I talked to Liliana last night and she has figured out that.... hello! she never comes over to the apartment she's paying rent on.... I mean NEVER! she will keep paying rent till I find another roommate.
I think I will spread the news by word of mouth this time.... I wanna yoga roomy, like my BRITEW!
more sandwich news
day one: sick and feeling pitiful on Pat's couch in Mississauga. she made me a cold cheese sandwich for the road. by the time I got home, I was all better. coincidence?
recipe-brick cheddar on nut and grain bread with miracle whip. Pat had no sammich veggies, so on a whim I asked her to grate some carrots on. OMG! you must try a cheese sandwich with grated carrots - so yummy! I know, a cold sandwich... in winter ?!? but it was strangely compelling....
day two: driving home from work, salivating over the day one sandwich, I stopped by the store and got flax-seed bread and medium brick cheddar........
recipe- brick cheddar with a slice of baloney on flax-seed bread with safflower mayo and grated carrot. mmmm......
day three: couldn't wait to eat the same sandwich again, so I did.
day four: finally! I'd had enough of the same sandwich for three days... sort of.
recipe-litely toast flaxseed bread, then put back in the toaster oven on the tray with lots of block cheddar over a slice of fennel root. verdict: this is amazing! the fennel gets ever-so-slightly slightly steamed and basted with cheese juice in there. YUM!
day five: I want what I had last night, although I may substitute cucumber for the fennel.
MUST. HAVE. CHEESE.

missisauga redeemed!
fri night class was great (& I achieved my travel goal which is to arrive in time to have a trip to the bathroom!!!!) but the next morning, I slept in rather than going to yoga, didn't get to the book store because there was a traffic jam, and didn't go to fressen.... and I was invited!!! it was a party!!!
in the end, it turned out pretty good though, because I got to visit my buddy Pat in...... *dramatical shift in musical soundtrack* ...... missisauga!!!!! you may remember from a previous post that me + missisauga + cat = terror. luckily, Pat is not only a nice person but also a vet assistant, so she has three happy (& very fluffy) cats. we got along well.
I spent most of the remainder of the weekend on Pat's couch, watching...ewwww.... canadian tv. I bet they use this to torture american prisoners in the gulags. par example 1: bridget jones' diary. par example 2: the canadian women's team killing the russians 10-0 at the olympics and continuing to show the game. par example 3: this bizarre story on the news. canadians are weird, eh?
after about 24 hours of couch-sitting (+ 20 min walk around the park) I felt fresh and new again, kind of like the feminine product that was shown in a canadian commercial I saw.....
set-up: many "unfresh" things were shown.... like muddy footprints on a floor (I swear to god I'm not making this up). the reveal: these handy feminine wipes, packaged to go, eh!
detroit: city of the future

eddie dilemma
actually, that's the problem - the dang cat is so dratted needy!!!!! he wants to spend 4 out of every 5 seconds plastered against my torso, and I am not into that. I took him in as a companion for maria, but he wants to be my sidekick!
I've been sick-ish and thus irritable all January, so I'm not ready to make any decision..... but I'm starting to wonder if eddie is just not suited for our house, and maybe would be a lot happier with somebody else. or maybe I haven't trained him enough yet?
I guess I'll keep waiting to make a final decision, but he is getting on my nerves!

& I've been stuck at home being sick-ish so much this month that I have to give an extra shout-out to everyone who celebrated my b-day with me - I couldn't have gotten through January without ya!

nightmare on lorider st.
I have to go back and finish high school.
yes, umm..... that's right, tha lorider is a high school drop out. you got a problem with it? for the record, I am not advocating dropping out of high school, but I must say it worked out fine for me (I just did not pass go and went straight to college)........ except for the nightmares:
rather than being here, I'm in a building that I don't recognize, but it's huge and I know it's "my high school." I know I have to finish two years of curriculum, and it will be as difficult for me now as it would have been for me then, except I've had years in which to forget how to be a student. TALK ABOUT FREAKING ME OUT!
seriously, I've been out of high school for 16 years now - I don't want to spend the rest of my life thinking or dreaming about high school.
so how can I get rid of this dream?
holla!
I'm so psyched!!! FREE ACCESS! and it's supposed to be fairly (?) fast (enough).
this reminds me of something I heard about how local government affects your quality of life much more than the feds (unless you're a druglord), so you should vote in your local elections, people! apparently the same is true for newspapers, but now I'll just use my new access to read the bbc and defamer from home. yay!

story about my grandfather
my grandfather used to be a big management exec. he had a driver and one time they were in manhattan, up from philly for a couple of days. in the morning at breakfast, my grandfather asked his driver how his room was. so it came out that the company was putting the driver up in a real dive on 42nd st (before the disneyfication, of course). so my grandfather asks for a telephone and calls down to philly and starts pitching a fit about how he can't find his driver, and the hotel staff doesn't know anything. when they admit they'll have to track him down across town, my grandfather insists that from then on, his driver stays at the same place he does. and so it was.....
pretty cool.

yelling at old people
I mean, just one old person. so that's not so bad, right? actually, I didn't even yell at her, but she was old. and I did scold her, and I felt terribly about it afterward.
the reason was, she was totally bitching about the service at the Wendy's whose line we were in, and the service was fine. she was just a crabby, mean person, between bossing her friend (who was at least as ancient as her) to go check the lines at the other restaurant and making comments about the people who worked at the Wendy's. and the worst part was, she had some like 10-year-old grandson with her, and he looked like a pretty good kid. so that's some education, gramma!
I always thought growing up in the city means you can ignore anything, but she was so f-ing acid, after about 5 minutes I couldn't even take it anymore and said "well if you think the line is too slow here, why don't you try at the other place," and pointed out how rude she was being. I wasn't surprised that she tried to turn it around and said "well you are rude to say that to me."
so I said real patient and calm like I was explaining to one of my little elementary students: "no, you are being rude."
well, she apologized after that and (even better) shut up. and when I left the line with my order, a few people still in line gave me the thumbs-up or the 'meaningful smile' (which means a thumbs-up). but I still felt awful.
after all, she was old. plus, let's be honest, I just can't take conflict. even if I win.
I'm really afraid what I might do if some codger in front of me takes to long to choose a donut.
*shiver* I am pure evil.

watch out! in another overly-hyped media production, you will soon be watching a three-hour saga about the WAR OF THE FORKS! here is the rough outline of my screenplay, which will be told as a voiceover from the journal of an aspiring war-correspondant:
WAR OF THE FORKS (Episode I)
tagline: "nobody panic and no one will get hurt!"
dateline- 10:30 last tuesday: I think it is the nature of a large office for forks to disappear little by little, but our housekeeper decided to take this personally for some reason. he's been hoarding forks in the storage room, letting us eat off of spoons and occasionally, strangely-shaped airline forks when they turn up. as the vips here don't eat lunch with us peons, he's been getting away with this strange behavior. until..... today....... a very, very vip at our office went to get a fork for her salad and lo and behold, she had to eat with a funny-shaped fork!!!!!! the evil, but misunderstood peon got blasted. she is a very, very vip who likes to have a well-shaped selection of forks at her disposal.
dateline - yesterday afternoon:well, poor mr. hk didn't mend his foolish ways, but just shifted a few forks from here to there. he got reamed out again, only this time by a very sweet admin person who honestly, I've only heard her raise her voice one other time. well, mr. hk must have been so hurt by this he lost his mind entirely........
dateline - today about 5 minutes ago: I just looked in the drawer and the entire silverware tray was covered in a mountain of forks, forks!..... forks of every shape and size. he must have had these all along, but I don't see how not letting us use them was solving the problem? plus, our very, very vip ("how do you think I got so rich?") don't like too little or too much forks! if she happens to open the drawer, my friends, there is going to be more drama!
segue to Episode II: I tremble, I shiver..... I fear I may soon witness first-ever firing over forks!!

cowboy story part deux
over the low croaking of the frogs, they heard billy's phone ringing back at the house. he excused himself and willy crouched down by the water, listening to the frogs and thinking long thoughts. about 5 min later, billy came back and said that it was the new tenants over at his folk's place calling, they'd come across a set of antique glass bottles in the back of the barn.
"I told em that was your collection, will," said billy. "member you kept em there to hide em from lattie? I never thought they were that old, though."
"shit," said willy. "I don't want em anymore."
"they said they're worth about 300 bucks. they wanta put em in their kitchen. they'll pay you for em."
"pretty straight of em." (ironic use of the word straight)
so that's how willy got the money to put in a frog pond up at his new place. his nephews loved getting muddy in it, which lattie hated and so willy had a new reason to enjoy the pond and, you know? willy and billy realized that they had a few fond old memories in common and they took to grabbing a beer together at JJ's bar when willy came to town.
after all, new friends are silver but old are gold.

story time
once upon a time.
there were two gay cowboys who grew up as neighbors out in the west. they were okay friends growing up, but they didn't really take to each other even just as friends, and that was too bad according to those family members who were a little more aware. they had figured if the two paired up it would work out nicely. funny how families always have their great ideas.
cowboy a call him willy bought a little farm when he'd saved enough. the thing about it was the frog pond out back. more of a pond, but there were a lot of frogs. willy took to strolling out back in the evenings and listening to the frogs. damn, he loved that frog-pond. in the summers it seemed like that was the best thing about his day, hearing those frogs and smelling the night air.
one day, he decided to sell his place so he could move nearer to his sister and be close as the brats came up. so he looked around for a buyer and what do you know, cowboy b or billy as he was known was the interested party. they came to an agreement and willy packed up and moved away.
now billy was not so much of a nature guy, even though he was a cowboy. he took all that natural stuff for granted or as a kind of background noise and didn't give a shit. as a matter of fact, he thought the frogs were kind of noisy and thought idly about filling in the pond every now and again. (don't worry, he's not really going to.) but one day willy came back.
he stopped over to the farm and asked billy was everything okay and all that. and billy said yeah and so forth. they bullshitted a bit but really willy wanted to get back to that frog pond. so before long he asked billy if he could stroll back and see the pond. "you see, I always did like to listen to those frogs a-belchin." billy said fine and they walked back.
well, I'm tired of writing now, so I'll finish it up tomorrow. you can guess how you think it'll end in the comments, if you want.
b-day bonanza!

-I catered lunches for Industrial Light and Magic for a while. they were a great group of guys. very friendly.

actually at shopping, I only had to pay $3 out of pocket, cause my not-boss gave me a gift card to Best Buy! (he works with my boss, I don't really do anything for him, but I don't argue when he gives me a gift) I got some speakers for my laptop - actually it's one unit, so easier to cart around, I figured - and an RF modulator and a remote control. I'm a good little shopper. (although... is $20 a good price for an RF modulator?)
(aside - now I know where to go to meet cute av nerds!!!! about 6 of them rushed up to help me and there were more shopping there!!! note to self - must go back)
then I drove to cute lil Royal Oak to see the movie. my town has about 8 blocks of restaurants and shops and one tiny art theater with three screening rooms. I stopped for a quick eggplant parm and then I saw brokeback mountain. as expected, I cried like a baby. it was a sweet movie about the very human fear that being emotionally vulnerable will lead to our deaths... but not metaphorically. nope, actual bloody and violent death. doesn't that keep you up at night?
as usual, my favorite part of the movie was the scenery. but the performances were good, & I especially liked some of the supporting people. hard to explain it, but it kind of felt like a short story... know what I mean? I guess I'll read the story next.

my wedding
I was raised by retroantinouveauxpostapocolyptic feminists, so I never got any barbies, pink clothes (except for the pink bikini my great-aunt slipped by my mom, but I was about 1 and a half, so I couldn't really appreciate it) or encouragement to imagine my wedding day. but over the years, idle thoughts about "my ideal wedding" began to form...... and several key points have surfaced:
SMALL- maybe it's from seeing the photos of my grandparents' wedding reception: imagine (in glorious sepia tones) a picture of a table with about 15 smiling people around it, on an enclosed porch in a retaurant...... or maybe just because I detest rooms stuffed with people... anyway, I want it to be small. considering how much family I alone have, though, I don't know how I could actually do this. so eloping is a distinct possibility.... but if that doesn't happen, the rest of these would come into play:
BACKWARDS- in keeping with my ass-backwards self (examples include always eating dessert first, and going to college at 15 but maturing into an adult at....well..... I'll let you know), I imagine that it would be nice to have the reception first, and then the ceremony. a nice, relaxed brunch, then a noon or one-o'clock ceremony. because then you are all getting ready for the event together. then maybe just a quick cake and champers after.... and then the groom and me can.... no not that !!! just adjust to being married in privacy.... no not that kind of privacy!!! jeez. it just seems like getting married would be pretty emotionally.... ummm.... huge, so I'd rather have some downtime together after so's we could just take it all in.....
YOGA PEOPLE- yeah, lots o' purple and tie-dye and incense and rambling blessings mentioning multiple deities!!!!
THE DRESS- yes, I've even designed my own dress... in my mind anyway. and I'm going to describe it here, so when it shows up on a runway in the spring I'll have proof I thought of it first. (unlike the post I never wrote that was an article in Vanity Fair last month!!!!) I want a very square, draped dress like the midevil Italian dresses, but in a very light spring green raw silk! doesn't that sound pretty! don't forget to pretend to be surprised when you see it!!!!
************************
this all sounds expensive, so please start sending me cash gifts now. I'll let you know when I meet somebody.

california is for YOGA, suckerz!
but, on the social side, I did have a great time seeing some old friends from my last trip out there and meeting a whole bunch of new people... (including I saw Santa at the beach, I'll have to post that photo later) I also ate at 3 great restaurants (BRITEW, I wished you were there with me at the Indian place!) and I was able to reach two overseas buddies on my cell!! plus I celebrated Christmas eve out there with some great yoga folks!
AND then the capper was when I came back, after all that yoga, I was taller than my brother again!! he'll verify that this is true! YOGA, people!
************************
ps - if you're not tired out of the whole xmas thing quite yet, I suggest you scoot over to anonymous coworker's site to put the capper on your holiday! harhar!!!!!

welcome to 2006, suckers!
did anyone make resolutions? spill :) myself, I'm not really in the mood this year. and let's face it, the lorider's pretty friggin perfect as is....... actually, I guess I do intend to be more optimistic in general this year.... despite getting a traffic ticket on New Year's Day!!!!!!!
(new years, for chrissakes, officer!!!)
I hope you all had great new years celebrations, like me. My friend Marie made a- wow, I lost count how many courses - authentic French meal. it was délicieux! and they have cable, so the guys (and me) kept slipping off to watch the UFC year in review show - a show which greatly matched our festive spirit! that may become my new new years tradition!
************************
Update: I don't want to seem ungrateful, so I will update my gifts received list: a rhyming dictionary - from england!!! (sorry cookie, how did I leave that off the 1st time???) that was my no. 1 pres... although, I must say my vintage gold lame disco shirt may have tied!!! (I was a sensation at the New Year's party!!) also, a beautiful gold scarf, a sweater, & a bracelet (and I opened my first b-day pres, too!)

the great 2005 movie round-up
as to the movie roundup, it's not going to be very great (size-wise) because a) I can't really remember what I saw and b) I'm only listing the movies I liked. but here they are:
documentaries
the tangerine dream (skiing and snowboarding) - a veritable poem of snow and motion
one (spiritual matters)- this is pretty
my architect (Louis Kahn) - self absorbed, but interesting
foreign
amelie- sweet, but I'd rather have watched la cite des enfants perdus again
king of masks - I haven't finished it yet, but it's really fun
grave of the fireflies - wow.
I saw it at the theater
high country - moving and has beautiful cinemetography
deuce bigalow 2 - it has a plot!
in my collection, so I've seen em about 50 times this year
the professional - it's my fav, so I watched it special on x-mas day
legally blonde - if this movie doesn't make you laugh and want to get a manicure, you are a freak!
collateral - best episode of Miami Vice ever! and it's amazing how Tom Cruise manages to be so creepy! hahahahahaha!
the magnificent 7 - def will be my New Year's Day movie, because of its uplifting tone
bonus: movie-link
great reviews here of the kind of movies you've seen once and wish you could erase from your brain: badmovies.org. I'm kinda worried because I have seen a lot of the movies!! but in my defense, bad movies are much better if you're seven and see them at the drive-in (beastmaster)
and now, introducing my hero of 2005:
Nicholas Negroponte. he is moving quickly on his vision of developing a laptop that costs less than $100, and can be powered by a hand-crank, so that computing could be accessable for children in developing nations! I'm really, really impressed.... and look at his picture - doesn't he looked just thrilled about it? what a cool guy :)
Happy New Year, see you in '06 !!!

greener pastures
okay, I am signing on to a new personals website. it is called act for love dot org. it is "the online personals service that lets you take action while getting action." it is for activists. you may be thinking, "hmmmmm..... the lorider never mentions being an activist. in the several months since she started her blog, there are .... hmmmmm.... 0 cases of her doing something for other people." aha! but I've thought about it!!! and once I testified at a zoning board meeting that was trying to close a homeless shelter. okay, that was 20 years ago. but I still care.
it is not free, but at least they tell you how much it costs ($10). (as opposed to the much-vaunted match.com, which will not tell you their price until you sign up!!! that is BOG, ladies & gentlemen!!!) it seems this is a relatively small service, but I'll just join it in addition to some others. I figure this is a numbers game, and I might meet at least a couple of interesting people on here....
and then, I got stuck... on the 5 question registration form! they want you to say what you're looking for. here are your options:
-casual dating
-serious relationship
-friendship
-activity partners
-play
eventually, sure, I'd like to be in a relationship. but I can't imagine a better way to really stress a couple people out on a first date than having that hanging over your heads! so that's out. I'm not looking for a friend-sheeesh!-and I'm not in kindergarden, so play's out, too. I don't know what 'activity partners' are (is that like ohhhh, I don't know, friends?!) so that's out. WHY OH WHY couldn't it just say 'dating'???????? but "casual dating"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that sounds like I'm trolling for a sex partner!!!!!!!! ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!
what should I do???
some more xmas stuff
-a book on eastern philosophy, a pair of very nice pajamas, a mariah carey cd, some candles. and from work: some jam, 2 candles, a gift card to best buy
damn, that's not too much, is it? oh well.
and now, I'll share this xmas poem that ms. meow copied on her blog. I'm too lazy right now to copy it over again, and anyway, she has LOTS of cute pictures of cats on her blog, too!

Merry Christmas!!!

ignor-what?
rough guide to detroit
****************************************
ok well here goes in my mission to display just how little i know about the Yoo Ess Aye. for now im going to tell you all what i know about the loriders hometown of detroit.
fact #1. its where Eminem is from. now i like rap music but i prefer 2pac, NWA and all that style rather than eminem and the newer rappers. having said that he has done a lot for rap music and he has definatly a lot of talent. its just i think he has only got so far coz of the colour of his skin but then agin he has opend the door for other rappers AND turned a lot fo other people onto rap music that maybe wouldnt have listend to it before!
fact #2. its where Robocop was filmed! i love robocop, i love the utter violence and the nihilistic atmosphere of the film. i love the way its a satire on modern life, but for all that its just a bloody good action film, with one of the most fantastic villains of all time.
fact #3. ummmmm. thats it, i cant think of another fact! i might just try n hunt some porno down to post on here! what do u lot think? shall i leave that as a xmas pressie?
oh and if i dont get a chance to say it on here before the day, Merry christmas to one and all from the cookie monster!
merry xmas..... suckerz
"I'll be back from cali in a few days and blogging again...
but until then, please enjoy my little holiday film
(idea stolen from acw)"
and now, cookie, I turn it back over to you...........

Red Menace
EVIL!
****************************************
ok ive just noticed something on the loriders sidebar. something that made the hackles rise and the blood boil! now any english person who reads this will know the link im on about but for those that dont hail from this scepterd isle, let me elucidate!
its that manchester bloody united link! they are evil, evil i tells ya! they are like a big red Pacman eating up all the support and money out of the game. to me they are the absolute antithesis of what it means to support your team and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with that. its baout sticking with your team through thick and mostly thin and not following the crowd. its about watching a team you have a real emotional connection with, the local lads wearing the colours of your town playing against some northern upstarts. its NOT about watching a team play on SKY, its NOT about bullying the kid who supports the shit local team at school, its NOT about buying all the latest merchandise, its NOT about Champions Tuesday or MUTV.
manchester united are a curse upon english football. i now hate them with such a vengance that when they are in europe i actively cheer on the opposition so it made my week when they went out to Porto a couple weeks back. its the arrogance and self righteousness of them that pisses me off. its the way they are the wornged party if they dont get a decision but are blind whe the ref (more often) gives it to them. they are such sore losers its unbelievable! also, its the way they see nothing wrong with poisioning the minds of the youth of this country into wearing their kits on the streets of Gillingham or Torquay or Rochdale whilst the local struggles and nearly goes out of business!
now if only i knew how i could put a link to Dulwich Hamlet in that sidebar! thats it, rant over, im going t have me dinner!

The Deep South Central
GANGSTAS PARADISE
***********************
Ok well seeing as the owner of this blog is in california i thought id drop a few lines on what i intend to do if i ever make it over there. i badly want to go to cali and in particular L.A. for pretty much one reason.
oh dont get me wrong i WILL do that touristy thing of Hollywood and all that. i want to hunt down the pace that has the stars set in the pavement. ill be doing all the studio tours and acting like a complete fraggle. that is until ive sated my tourist urges and then i can go and fulfill a dream ive had for a while. namely i want to stroll around compton and Watts. i wanna see the bright lights of South Central!
now im well aware of the reputation of the place but i grew up in south london so theres not a lot that can faze me! now you may well ask what makes me want to go to south central?
wel thats an easy question to answer. im a big fan of early 90's rap music and certain films that are set in compton etc. one of my favourite artists of all time is/was 2pac and i love that whole era of NWA/ice cube/snoop doggy dogg etc. one of my idols in the CEO of Death Row records Suge Knight. i know hes not maybe the most socially acceptable of role models but fuck it, im a Mullins! i also love the films Boyz in the Hood and Menace 2 society amongst others. i want to stroll around the streets and places that ive seen in those films and ive heard rapped about.
i also want to see the Watts Towers, thats the structure put up just after WW2 by a vagrant i believe from crap he fund in the streets. form what ive read he never told anyone why he was doing it and then he just croaked so now its been left and is now a onument. well its either that or ive completely got the wrong end of the stick. which wouldnt be unusual for me! whilst enjoying the sights sounds and yes, the tastes of south central i want to have my photo taken with some genuine Bloods and also while im at it i wanna purchase some gang colors! thatll make me stand out on the mean streets of Gillingham eh?
well thats all for now folks, im off to do my dinner, ill be back soon to ruin loriders blog that lil bit more!

the great 2005 roundup, #7: the final chapter
what better way to commemorate our fun times together than by sharing some photos of our fav pastime - stuffing our faces with good food and good beer...... here we are at Detroit's Traffic Jam. enjoyz

the great 2005 roundup #5: first trip to Toronto... with S&P!

First off, it was a great road trip. I travelled with S&P, my old neighbors Susan & Paul, and their baby Helaine and Susan's nephew Daniel, who was visiting from Australia. the main attraction was the Modigliani exhibition at the Ontario Art Gallery - it was terrific!

of course, we picked a weekend with a HUGE snowstorm. we bundled up soooo much, and Paul carried Helaine inside his coat!!! awwww!!!! Daniel and I didn't let that stop us from hitting the bars at night, though!
we started hitting the bars in Cabbagetown, where our B&B was, then headed toward Yonge and finally ended up on Queen St. West.
lucky thing, though, cause that's how I found my yoga place.... we were looking for an after-hours bar and I noticed their sign :) and because of that, I've been to Toronto a whole bunch of times this year!!! here's to many more visits in 2006!!!! *erp!*

on our way out of town, we stopped for lunch with some friends of S&P and had a mini baby-festival! good times!!!!!
the great 2005 roundup, #3: my brother grew taller than me!

ides of blog - Dec: food blogs
what could be more appropriate for the holidays than blogs about food? I'll try to represent all the continents (except for antartica - penguin recipes are a no-no at 1209 anarchists)
africa: yummy photos of african food
asia: umami, a great blog
australia: tomatilla -scroll down
europe: il forno
north america: the domestic goddess
south america: oh no! this one is all about wine!!!!!
bonus blog-all of the above: foodster.net
the great 2005 roundup, #2: Tigers baseball

between innings, when the field crew goes out to neaten things up, they leave the door/netting behind home plate open, and I had a direct view of Ivan Rodriguez warming up the pitchers, etc!!!!!! I've been a fan of his since his first season (with Dallas)- he's been an all-star every year since his first year with MLB - and he was only 19 then! I was psyched when he came to Detroit, but he seems to be getting irritated cause the team's not improving.....

that is my knee in the lower left, and that is the #1 security guy in front of me!!! and then.... it's the field!!!!!!!

this guy has season seats, too. everybody calls him Jack... I think he may actually work as a Jack Nicholson impersonator - he's got the voice down and everything... it's creepy!!!! (that's didi1 on the left!!! so handsome but slouchy- he's 14)

next year will be the last year didi2 can run the bases after Sunday games! (isn't he handsome?!!!! he's 13!)

fireworks every Friday night at the Copa!!!!!
(Comerica (bank) Park - they must have threatened the local announcers somehow because suddenly last summer it stopped being called the Copa... on TV, anyway!)
************************
Happy National Firefighters Day, BFE!!!
