the great 2005 movie round-up

well, as I've already posted a blog-roundup of 2005 events here, here, here, here, here, here, and here, the only thing left is to post my great 2005 movie round-up.... and name my hero for 2005!

as to the movie roundup, it's not going to be very great (size-wise) because a) I can't really remember what I saw and b) I'm only listing the movies I liked. but here they are:

documentaries
the tangerine dream (skiing and snowboarding) - a veritable poem of snow and motion
one (spiritual matters)- this is pretty damn holy interesting
my architect (Louis Kahn) - self absorbed, but interesting

foreign
amelie- sweet, but I'd rather have watched la cite des enfants perdus again
king of masks - I haven't finished it yet, but it's really fun
grave of the fireflies - wow.

I saw it at the theater
high country - moving and has beautiful cinemetography
deuce bigalow 2 - it has a plot!

in my collection, so I've seen em about 50 times this year
the professional - it's my fav, so I watched it special on x-mas day
legally blonde - if this movie doesn't make you laugh and want to get a manicure, you are a freak!

collateral - best episode of Miami Vice ever! and it's amazing how Tom Cruise manages to be so creepy! hahahahahaha!
the magnificent 7 - def will be my New Year's Day movie, because of its uplifting tone

bonus: movie-link
great reviews here of the kind of movies you've seen once and wish you could erase from your brain: badmovies.org. I'm kinda worried because I have seen a lot of the movies!! but in my defense, bad movies are much better if you're seven and see them at the drive-in (beastmaster)

and now, introducing my hero of 2005:
Nicholas Negroponte. he is moving quickly on his vision of developing a laptop that costs less than $100, and can be powered by a hand-crank, so that computing could be accessable for children in developing nations! I'm really, really impressed.... and look at his picture - doesn't he looked just thrilled about it? what a cool guy :)

Happy New Year, see you in '06 !!!

I thought you were all hyped up about Jarhead?
If you have not seen Murderball yet, you must. It's a documentary about the US Olympic Quadrapalegic Wheelchair Rugby Team. 4 stars!

The article about Nicholas Negroponte was interesting.
Now if we could only get that kind of government support and corporate sponsorship for delivering things like food and medecine!
